12 Days of Goodwill
The LSL Communities Forum has launched its winter campaign and this time it encourages colleagues to show their support to their local communities during 12 Days of Goodwill.
Each day from 1-12 December colleagues are being offered ideas to support others; from donating blood, litter picking, checking in on lonely neighbours or even taking part in CPR training – some ideas follow campaigns the forum has previously run. Colleagues are also being invited to pledge their support – as shown below.
The campaign will then culminate in a Group-wide Christmas Jumper Day on 12 December with a request for donations to Save the Children – which LSL will support with a further contribution.
As a Group we want to have a positive and lasting impact on the communities we work in – as we report in our Living Responsibly Report – and this is yet another way the forum support this.

The only two I didn't do were the CPR as I am already trained and as I told Kate Marsh... I have a thing with needles! But this was such a lovely thing and there were so many good ideas. Thank you for organising this - it was lovely and especially 5 & 7 - I found out my lovely elderly neighbour who I have dinner with every couple of weeks has no plans over Christmas so we're going to do a Christmas Day together on the Xmas weekend :)

I spent the day cooking a big batch of meals for the local elderly and those in need. It warms my heart to know these meals will bring some comfort to others. On December 23rd, I’ll be delivering turkeys to families who are struggling. It’s a small effort, but I hope it brings joy and support this holiday season.

Today’s goodwill gesture is all about reaching out to a friend in need. Yesterday, I connected with a dear friend who is facing a particularly challenging time. With her mum battling dementia, the loss of her dad two years ago, and her own health issues, her mental wellbeing has been quite low. I invited her and her husband over for dinner, as sometimes all it takes is a simple phone call to make someone feel loved, wanted, and cherished. A small gesture can truly warm another’s heart significantly.

Today, I reached out to my wonderful nan, who lives alone and faces mobility challenges. It was heartwarming to hear her voice and catch up on life! These moments remind us how important it is to stay connected with our loved ones. A simple 5 minute call can brighten someone's day and show them they’re not alone. Let’s keep spreading kindness! :)

Today, I’m excited to share my pledge as part of our "12 Days of Goodwill"! While I already have a blood donation appointment booked for the 9th day, I’m taking a moment today to encourage everyone to consider making their own appointment. Donating blood is a simple yet powerful way to give back to our community and help those in need - so if you can donate, book your appointment today! Let’s spread some holiday cheer and make a difference together!
Day 4 – Book to donate blood
Sheena falconer, PRIMIS Network
I am a regular blood donor and my next appointment will be my 59th - so cant recommend people to do this enough - as they now let you know where you blood has been sent to.
Day 4 – Book to donate blood
Adam White, LSL Group HR
We are doing a 'reverse advent calendar' with our children - on random days we pick a card from our 'advent bags' and place a donation of food or a gift into a cardboard box - which then gets donated to an allocated family in need in late December to help them through Christmas.
Day 10 – Donate to foodbank
Paul Warren, LSL Land & New Homes
I'd like to introduce you to Greg. Earlier this year, he was made redundant and is still job hunting. Despite this, Greg is a wonderful person who loves to help others, especially during the festive season. Just today, I saw him clearing the Café courtyard to prepare for the local Christmas Fayre. He did it out of kindness, noticing that the two lady owners were struggling. I was so touched by his generosity that I treated him to a coffee as a small gesture of goodwill.
